Bridget Kurkowski will begin her duties in the position as Director of Admissions Monday, Sept. 28.

As Director of Admissions, she will lead the Office of Admissions staff and assist with the acceptance of prospective students. The current admissions statistics show that overall enrollment is up 6.7 percent from last year. Kurkowski will help the Office of Admissions continue to increase enrollment.

Before Kurkowski joined the faculty at Buena Vista, she served as the Director of Admissions at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia.

She also has experience as the Assistant Director of Admissions at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska. Kurkowski graduated from Doane College with her bachelor’s and master’s degree.

“The first word I think of when I think of BV is community.  Buena Vista is a place where faculty, staff and students are passionate about working and learning together,” Kurkowski said.

Kurkowski is most excited about getting to know students and their families.

“Not only do I like helping them to decide what institution they will attend, but interacting with them once they enroll,” Kurowski said.

One of Kurkowski’s closest mentors, Dr. Fred Brown, worked at Buena Vista in the past. His passion for the university encouraged her to apply for the position as Director of Admissions.

“I have long known about BV and its strong academic reputation and traditions. It was only natural for me to want to work for BV when I heard about the Director of Admission position, Kurkwoski said.

“I am really excited to get to know the current BV students and working with our prospective students,” Kurkowski said.
