Marcia Nance was recently announced as the new Vice President for Enrollment Management.  Nance is originally from Bayard Iowa, and obtained a B.A. from Wayne State and a Master of Counseling & Educational Psychology degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  Currently, Nance operates her own successful enrollment management consulting firm called InterimWin.

Nance had 14 years of experience as a chief enrollment officer prior to establishing the firm. She has held positions as Vice President for Enrollment at Holy Names University in Oakland, Calif., and at Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla.  Before her experiences in enrollment management, Nance had a successful career in the fields of student services and coaching. Nance is a respected member in the field of student enrollment, and frequently presents at national conferences.

Tim McDaniel, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Business, who took part in the hiring of Nance, recognizes her expertise.

“Ms. Nance has a wealth of experience successfully recruiting students to private undergraduate colleges. She is a data-driven leader with a genuine passion for enrollment management, especially recruiting students who can be successful in college,” McDaniel said.

Dr. Susan Kalsow, Dean of the School of Education, who also took part in the hiring of Nance, is excited to see what she can bring to the University.

“She [Nance] has experience and the right personality for the job.  She’s collaborative, dynamic, and has a proven record of increasing enrollment” Kalsow said.

Jill Rhea, Associate Professor of Communication Studies, agrees that Nance has, “the experience, knowledge, energy, and drive to make BVU even better than it is.”

Other Buena Vista University (BVU) personnel who took part in the hiring process are eager for what Nance can bring to the campus.

“I am very excited about Ms. Nance’s appointment as our new VP Enrollment Management.  She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position.  She has a strong background in both traditional student enrollment and the adult learner.  She has developed and implemented successful student enrollment strategies at every institution she has served,” Marge Welch, Associate Dean of Professional & Online Studies.

Welch also claims Nance understands the need to develop enrollment strategies best suited to the mission and vision of BVU.

President Moore and Nance will be finalizing her start at BVU in the near future.  The campus community is looking forward to what Nance can bring to BVU.  Dr. Kalsow believes Nance’s focus to find students who are the right fit for BVU will prove to be effective.

“She [Nance] understands the generation we’re [BVU] recruiting, and she responds to their needs.  She knows about the generational differences and she tries to find students who are the best match for what BVU offers,” Kalsow said.
