Mentalist Chris Carter shocked and amazed the Buena Vista University (BVU) audience throughout his show on Thursday, Oct. 2. Whether you admit it or not, everyone loves a good story. On Tuesday, Sept. 30, students attended the Academic and Cultural Events Series (ACES) event titled "Storytelling" to hear just that. The mid-sized crowd gathered in the Estelle Siebens Science Center to listen to Louise Omoto Kessel, the cousin of Professor Swasti Bhattacharyya and professional storyteller of 25 years. Following on the heels of the underground success of the "punk cabaret" band The Dresden Dolls, the female half of the Boston duo Amanda Palmer has released an incredibly strong and vibrant debut solo album. Who Killed Amanda Palmer, released Sept. 16, takes the listener on a winding journey through the inner-psyche of Palmer and the audience themselves. (0) comments

The kickoff of Homecoming at Buena Vista University (BVU) began Monday night with a party and bonfire at the brand new location of The Underground. Over 200 students enjoyed the bonfire, mocktails, food and music. The night ended with the Student Activities Board (SAB) raffling off a digital camera to one lucky student. (0) comments

A multitude of amazing movies came out this last week on DVD: Sex and the City the movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas (Buy it. Now. I mean seriously, how can you not love Jack Skellington!?) , and everyone's favorite, Iron Man. And while I can't stress how much I love movies, I had to wonder when enough was enough. (0) comments
