It is Friday night at 10 p.m. and you have watched all the movies in your room along with all your neighbors' movies. Is there anything else to watch? Why not tune in to the University Cable Network's (UCN) new show Date or No Date?

Date or No Date is a new show on UCN created by junior Cody Fitzpatrick. The show's first episode was previewed as part of the Student Activities Board (SAB) event, "Movie on the Lawn" which was held on Sept. 3.

"I thought the show seemed like it is going to be really funny and I look forward to upcoming episodes," sophomore Cassandra Pauley said.

The show's first official airing was Friday, Sept. 5, on the UCN. After helping with previous UCN shows, Fitzpatrick came up with his own idea for a great new show.

The show's host, Slater Maxwell, sets up Buena Vista University (BVU) students on a blind date in potentially awkward situations and then films the results, which is not always pretty.

When developing the idea for the show, Fitzpatrick knew he wanted something that would attract a wide audience; something that could involve a lot of different people. Fitzpatrick's hope is the show will get noticed by students who may not usually watch shows on UCN.

"The students on the show will get their friends to watch," Fitzpatrick said. He also hopes that by involving a variety of students that news of the show will spread by word of mouth.

You never know what might happen on the dates. He felt that using an alter ego, Slater Maxwell, would prevent him from holding the show back and better allow the show to take its own direction.

"The show is meant to push the limits," Fitzpatrick said.

"Offensive, awkward, uncomfortable." Those are some of the words Fitzpatrick uses to describe episodes to come. "Keep watching because it's guaranteed to get better," Fitzpatrick said.

Eight episodes are set to be aired throughout the semester. A new episode will air every two weeks and then be repeated every night at 10 p.m. until the new episode airs.
