Track preps for conference

This past weekend, the BVU track team competed in their last track meet of the regular season before this weekend's Iowa Conference Championships. They competed at the Central College Open in Pella, Iowa, and also sent a couple representatives to the IIAC Multi-Championships in Waverly, Iowa.
On the men's side of the draw, junior Eric Bertelsen opened up the meet with a win, as well as an automatic qualification into the NCAA Outdoor Championships, in the 200-meter dash. He won the race with a time of 21.31, which also set a new school record. He also set a provisional mark in the 100-meter dash, winning that race with a time of 10.67.
On the men's side of the draw, senior Chris Rowedder and junior Justin Bauer took third and fourth in the 100-meter dash, respectively. Bauer also took third place in the 200-meter dash. Senior Shawn Olorundami won the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.58. Seniors Justin Taylor and Steven Maguire took second and fifth places, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles. Taylor also won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.46.
The 4x100-meter relay team set a provisional mark as well when they won the race in a time of 41.88. Junior Matt Stubbe finished fourth in the discus (140' 2") while sophomore Steven Ricke took sixth place in the hammer throw (133' 0").
On the women's side, junior Jacqulyn Schmidt won the 100-meter hurdles with a provisionally qualifying time of 14.95. Junior Natalie Olorundami finished the 100-meter hurdles in first place with a time of 16.06. Senior Missy Reinhart took fourth place in the 400 hurdles with a time of 68.44 and also took fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 16'1".
First-year Liz Ahrendsen took fourth place in the high jump with a measurement of 4'9", followed by junior Andrea Ahrendsen, who took seventh place with a measurement of 4'7". Senior Laura Czyzewicz finished fifth in the hammer throw and took 19th place in the discus.
Senior AJ Dahm and sophomore Tanner Russ represented the University at the IIAC Multi Championships in Waverly.
