The commencement speaker for the BVU class of 2008 has been finalized. Tom Bedell will be delivering the speech to graduates at the commencement ceremony on May 18 at 2:30 p.m. in the Siebens Fieldhouse. Bedell is a successful entrepreneur from Spirit Lake with a strong background of success. (0) comments

Recent graduate arrested

On Wednesday, Feb. 13, following 10 months of investigation, 2007 BVU alumnus Kyle Payne was arrested at his home in Ida Grove by Storm Lake Police investigators and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) agents. Storm Lake Police have charged Payne with Second Degree Burglary, a class C felony; Invasion of Privacy, a serious misdemeanor; and Assault, a simple misdemeanor. (4) comments

Instead of only hosting a career fair, this year's Job Summit will produce a week's worth of activities related to career and internship searching. The events will kick off on Monday, Feb. 18 and will end on Thursday, Feb. 21. "The concept of the Summit week is what is new this year. (0) comments

Schaller looks to new storage

BVU is in the process of completing some renovations of Dixon-Eilers (DE) Hall on campus. The areas that are being focused on are the VP Suites and the Admissions visitor rooms. According to Keith Schmidt, director of facilities management, the main reason for the DE renovations is because of the need for backstage storage of Schaller Memorial Chapel. (0) comments

The BVU campus has surely taken notice of all the Super SAB (Student Activities Board) Week events. The student body has been offered a decent list of movies and various activities to attend all through this week. SAB kicked off the week with a showing of August Rush on Monday night, allowing students to see the movie before it is released on DVD. (0) comments

Following last week's tornadoes that destroyed many homes, businesses and schools in several southern states, BVU Student Senate has decided to donate $150 to Union University's student government for relief purposes. The university, which is located in Jackson, Tenn. (0) comments
