The Star and the Swastika

Not to be insensitive to the millions of innocent victims that perished during the Holocaust, but current trends taken by Israelis against the Palestinians more than mimic actions taken by the Nazi’s against the Jews.

Israel’s defiance of the Obama Administration’s criticism over building settlements in East Jerusalem, a largely Palestinian neighborhood, has outraged officials in Washington. Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has vowed to continue the construction of Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem.

Digging deeper, the ill-treatment of Palestinians by Israel is nothing new.

In Israel, Palestinian neighborhoods are required to pay Israeli taxes, as by law, Palestinians are Israeli citizens.

However, Palestinian neighborhoods receive inferior funding in contrast to Jewish neighborhoods.

Furthermore, Palestinian neighborhoods are normally decrepit and have a non-developed appearance. In contrast, Jewish neighborhoods are modern and luxurious. Israelis do not go into Palestinian neighborhoods, thus they create roads that bypass such areas, much like the Nazi’s did with Jewish ghettoes.

Palestinians are even required to have license plates that mark them as Palestinian, much like the Nazis made the Jews wear the Star of David during the Holocaust.
Israel also controls access to water, causing severely unequal amounts of water to be distributed between the Palestinians and Israelis. Some Palestinian neighborhoods lack access to sewage and water as a result.

If these actions are not enough, Israel has also built a wall of separation, further dividing Palestinians and Israelis.

Palestinians are deprived of land usage, especially in agriculture, and are being crushed by the domineering hand of Israel.

In the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel gained control of Gaza, the West Bank and EastJerusalem. These areas have been disputed ever since, as both Palestinians and Israelis claim the land.

However, the conflict goes back even further, to the establishment of Israel following World War II.

Shortly after the arrival of the Jews, and the recognition of the State of Israel by the UN,

Arab nations declared war on Israel.
From the Arab point of view, their homeland was invaded and colonized by the Israelis.

See the connection?

Israel has essentially become an apartheid nation, historically similar to the United States, South Africa, and most ironically, Nazi Germany.
To get a glimpse of the Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people, one only needs to visit the websites of Human Rights Watch or Amnesty International.

Controlling a people through force breeds discontent with the oppressor, a situation that inspires revolutions. Although the problem is two-sided (Palestinians do kill Israelis), the root of the problem lies within the bosom of Israel’s establishment and ill-treatment of Palestinians.
