The 2009-2010 school year is coming to an end! Summer is just around the corner and everyone is counting down the days to the end of school. The last week of school is a tough week for any student. It’s like you’re running a ten mile (more or less depending on your athletic ability) marathon.
You’re on your last mile, and you’re doubled over in pain sucking air because you honestly believe that there is no way you’re going to finish.
Then, just before you’ve given up all hope, you see that your run is almost over and if you just hold on for a few more strides you’ll be done.
At this time of the year, everyone is in need of a little pep talk to get them through the last few strides of the marathon.
Here is some helpful advice to keep you motivated and prevent you from going insane before you’re finished.
“Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.” Sam Levenson
Although it may sound difficult, try not to count down the minutes until you are done with school. Focusing on how much time you have left will make time go slower. Also, if you have a lot to accomplish in the next week, focusing on the amount of time you have left to do it can cause stress. In the words of Dory from Finding Nemo, “Just keep swimming!”
“Every sweet has its sour; every evil its good.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
The evil of big projects and difficult final exams comes with a great reward…SUMMER! School will eventually end, and you will have three months to relax.
“A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.” Herm Albright
You’re bound to hit a few speed bumps towards the end of the year, but complaining won’t solve anything. Stay positive and try to look on the bright side of things. It puts things in perspective for you, and you’ll be less stressed.
“The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking places.”  Author Unknown
Don’t procrastinate! It might be hard to find the strength to keep going, but stopping to take a detour won’t help. If you do stop to take a break, make sure you get back on the road.
“For fast-acting relief, try slowing down.” Lily Tomlin
When you’re feeling stressed out, take a breath. If you slow down and take a short break it will help you pull through!
“When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.” Franklin D. Roosevelt
Hold on! It will all be over soon!
