EMILY NIELSEN, STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT

How do you feel about winning the election? I feel very optimistic and excited about winning the election.
Why do you want to be president? I decided to run for president because I felt  I would represent the student body in an accurate way, and I am interested in making Senate a more active group on campus.
How long have you been on Senate? I have been on Senate for all three years of my college experience, and have been involved with several different committees, including Student Services, Admissions & Retention, and Information Resources. I am also the Student Senate Secretary this year, and I feel that has helped me prepare me for my experience as President.
What would you like to do differently next year with Senate? We do a lot of behind-the-scenes work, but I’d like to make the organization even more involved by collaborating with other groups and sponsoring more events.
Do you have any new plans or ideas you would like to implement? I am excited about the Beavers Creed.  This coming year we will be having freshman begin a tradition of signing large rocks in honor of their commitment to the Creed.

BIKASH PANDEY, STUDENT BODY VICE PRESIDENT

How do you feel about winning the election? I feel loved and accepted by my friends. This wouldn’t have been possible without their help. I can also say that being the person who I am today is the outcome of their confidence in me.
What contributions have you personally made to student senate? I have represented international and other students by voicing their concerns in Senate. I also worked with the Financial Aid Committee on changing the form for allocations, which will eliminate filling out four different forms that have been used in the past.
What can other students expect to see from Senate around campus? I think Senate is a good resource for all the students to see and learn more about leadership. It also will be keeping students updated with happenings around campus. We will be bringing some new programs and promote the Beavers Creed heavily next year.
What changes would you like to see within next year? I would like to see Senate more involved in programs with other student organizations throughout campus. I want Senate to be more than just an organization that allocates money to other clubs so that they can  take action.
