Briscoe 5 has been struck with turmoil. Screaming down the hallways and rude comments with even worse return remarks. This place might as well be World War III….in terms of music that is. We’ve always had a clash of the genres with some serious country fans who don’t quite appreciate my ‘eccentric’ taste in music (I don’t think that “A Day to Remember” at 9:30 in the morning goes over well, but who’s keeping track).
This debacle has nothing to do with alternative music or even country. Briscoe 5A is sick. They should probably be put in isolation in hopes of not infecting the rest of campus. Maybe even sent home for a week as they did with the Swine Flu (oink!). They are very ill....a sickness known as “Bieber Fever.”
What Miley Cyrus did to this campus last semester with some moving our hips and nodding our heads, the girls of Briscoe 5A have taken it to a whole new level with “Bieber Fever.”
“Miley Mania” doesn’t even compare to the issue I am currently faced with. Justin Beiber, a Canadian-born pop star has stolen the hearts of two of my suitemates.
You know him for his catchy tunes and award winning smile. I know him for doors slamming and some unacceptable words too crude for print rolling out of my roommate’s mouth when we hear his music blaring from the speakers down the hallway.
Technically illegal in all 50 states for anyone over age 18, it doesn’t really matter. Justin Bieber is the new cat’s meow. Deal with it.
Just turning 16, Justin Bieber has an effect on everyone, of all ages. If you haven’t seen the video of the three year old crying about how much she loves him on YouTube, check it out.
Did you know Justin Bieber got his start on YouTube? This little fella taught himself how to play the piano, guitar, drums, and trumpet and when his mom starting posting videos of his performances of music by artists such as Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, and Usher, surprise! He got a record deal. No big deal or anything, but Bieber is the only individual to ever have four hit singles make the Billboard Top 40 off of a debut album.
So what makes him so charming? I must break down and admit, I have watched his music video for “One Less Lonely Girl.” Although I don’t know how I feel about a then 16 year-old telling me at age 22 that ‘he’s gonna put me first and show me what I’m worth’ I was impressed. Just like Miley Mania, Bieber Fever is here to stay for at least a few more years.
Look out America and the world, Justin Bieber doesn’t just share the same first name with Justin Timberlake. I’ll put my bets he follows in his shoes as a stable figure in the music industry.
So will Briscoe 5 ever get past Bieber Fever? Probably, but currently as I write this, Bieber is blaring down the hallway from 5A. I don’t care, I love them anyway. A few more door slams might be necessary though.
He's almost 18, right?
